Joan Grossman is an independent media artist and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work has been screened in more than 20 countries and won numerous awards. She has worked in Africa, China, Russia, and throughout Europe, and has produced non-commercial media for public interest organizations. She has also worked as U.S. producer on European documentaries and feature films. Joan has a Ph.D. in Media and Philosophy from the European Graduate School, and has taught film production and theory. She has worked with leading theorists and filmmakers such as Agnes Varda, Claude Lanzmann, Chantal Akerman, Jean Baudrillard, and Jacques Derrida.

She founded Pinball Films with Paul Rosdy in 1994 and is now the sole proprietor of the company.
